Major Scholarship Fund Drive on December 2, 2006

A Letter of Agreement was formally signed by Emy Bernardo and Mesing Guinto, president and vice president, respectively of Class ‘55 JASHS Alumni Association, Inc. with the Repertory Philippines Foundation Inc. on April 6, 2005 to sponsor a one night showing of the universally popular SOUND of MUSIC on December 2, 2006 at the Onstage Theater.

The Repertory’s Onstage theater is located on Greenbelt I in Makati which holds 800 seats. We are co-sponsoring the show with the Association of Rotary Anns of Pasig which Emy is a director too. Each organization will sell 400 tickets for that evening’s performance. Our share of  400 tickets is a mixture of upper and lower orchestra and balcony. Emy has indicated we would use a single price of P1,000 for all tickets. (worth $20 per person). Emy reports tickets have been printed and ready for distribution.

We are urging as many Class ’55 members  in the United States to support this scholarship fund drive. We urge members to sponsor a minimum $100 equal to P5,000 (5 tickets) that you can give to relatives or donate to our financially-handicapped members (especially if you’re not planning to  attend). A sponsorship of $1,000 is equal to P50,000 pesos or 50 tickets that can be donated.

Mini Reunion to be Held in February 2007

The  mini reunion of Class ’55 in February 2007 will be the first since our 50th in 2005. At this writing, no definite date or activity has  been planned. There will be a pre-show cocktail party for  Class ’55 alumni and guests on the evening of Dec. 2, 2006.

The Repertory Foundation will provide all publicity consisting of print ads in major metropolitan papers and dailies and distribute posters, streamers and fliers. If you wish to place an ad for you, your family or friends it will be P20,000 or $400.  Please send your sponsorship checks to Oscar Apostol in the US and to Emy Bernardo in the  Philippines.

Attention USA members: Frank de Jesus will canvas best price plane fare and we will email you the price. Should you wish to stay in a Condo please let us know the number of rooms and  area preferred to assist our Philippine contingent to plan and negotiate. Please send questions to: Emy Bernardo or myself.

Mesing and Goyie Guinto’s Visit

The Guintos plan to visit Lollie and Oskie in Roseville did not materialize because Lita had to take care of her new grandson, courtesy of her only daughter Anne. Lita and Mey needed to bond with him since they were in the Philippines when he arrived.

We heard Goyie had a mini reunion with her classmates living in Los Angeles and vicinity. See photos on page 4 with their touring of points of interest and dinner with the Velascos, Gomezes and Labradors. Mesing and Goyie left California by way of Seattle since they were taking Northwest Airlines.
