Bullet Points and Milestone Corner By Oscar R. Apostol · Thank you Chit and Vince for your contribution to the Scholarship Funds of $175 dollars. · The Velascos are back. They played tourists and visited many points of interest while in the Philippines. We should all do that the next time we visit. · Lenny visited the South and was simply amazed how hospitable and nice the people she met. Free drinks were offered wherever they stopped. · Chit and Vince went home to attend the graduation of their nephews and nieces. They have supported their schooling all along. · Nannie’s visit to Roseville was shortened when Tony felt ill due to exhaustion while packing their personal effects to move into their new senior apartment. Tony is doing fine now. · Lourdes came to Fairfield to attend her older granddaughter’s confirmation. We met with her when we took Emy and Chito to the wine country Napa. Lourd treated us to wonderful two-hour lunch at the Red Lobster. We had fun. · Frank and Adeling hosted a Chinese buffet luncheon for the Bernardos with the Abads, de Guzman, Laguatans, Rosie Cornelio and Ester Dazon sharing the good food.. · Life in USA: Emy wrote to Oscar and Lollie, “I am amazed you had to do everything: cook, drive, wash dishes and found time to show us around without a maid. Thanks so much.” · Ester’s quote, “I am eating too much but I will miss the coffee very much (with Kahlua) when I go back to the Philippines.” · Dazon and the Bernardos favorite stores: Dollar Tree, Marshall, Ross, Nordstrom Racks, K Mart, Macy’s, etc.; they tried their luck at Thunder Valley Casino near our home but the slot machines were not in a giving mood. · Did you purchase a computer yet? You need it at the end of the year. · Heard Vi is so into creating baubles and bangles and she often forgets about the time and works late in the wee hours of the morning to the distress of Conrad losing sleep. You ought to see them. They are exquisitely beautiful. · Mahjong is the popular pastime among the officers. The game immediately follows after each meeting. The core of the group is made up of Emy and Chito, Conrad, Rex and Necie, Lourdes Freira, Mesing and Goyie Guinto. Mey took a stub while visiting, but lost. These guys are not only veterans but they are good. · Goyie and Mesing called to say hello. They were in Irvine at that time staying with Mesing’s relatives. The Velascos are supposed to drive them to Roseville with Ric and Linda but did not make it. · On Friday May 12 Santi and Constance tendered an early dinner for Emy and Chito with classmates. · Oscar and Lollie are taking a 24 day cruise, embarking in Amsterdam and on to the Scandinavian countries, including Russia, Estonia and Georgia; From there they will visit England, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Newfoundland, Greenland and ease down to Canada and disembark in New York. |
